Art is not something one does; it is a life one lives.....
Other things.....
I thought I would list a few other things that I have liked and have helped me as an artist. First, I want to say that I read approximately four books a week. Most of them are art books. ... I watch a few films... and can tell you some of them I remember that are great.
Books: Any books with : Rembrandt, (especially Rembrandt by Himself) Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez, Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, Adolphe-William Bouguereau, Richard Schmid, James Gurney (both his books are worth buying for sure!) George Bridgeman's books on drawing, Birge Harrison - Landscape Painting, John Carlson-Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting, Andrew Wyeth (any book!) Edgar Payne-Composition in Outdoor Painting. Mary Whyte-Painting Portraits and Figures in Watercolor. I will think of others and post...there are just so many!
DVD's on Art Glorious Color! by Sharon Morley (of course) these are five 1/2 hour dvd's that take you from choosing art equipment and colors to painting a still life-see my prints and dvd pages for information and to purchase!
Richard Schmid -Portrait and Landscape and still life DVD's. Burton Silverman paints the figure - Jenny, Burton Silverman-Drawing, Helen Van Wyk-any DVD, Scott Christensen- Painting Large Landscapes, David Leffel-still life dvd, Daniel Gerhartz, Her Mother's Locket". Charles Reid-Portraits in Watercolor (VHS), Ramon Kelly-still life, Mary Whyte-any Dvd.....still thinking...check back...
Other Things Although between painting and teaching art, running (and also learning piano) I have little time for Television or Movies. Actually, I seldom watch either (except of course, art DVD's) but I have a friend who loves movies and has just started to blog about them. His name is Peter and his website is www.thebigbrownchair.comcheck that for regular movie information.
Photos I have most of the photos of my artwork done at Image-Tec in Methuen Mass. Tom Grassie is great to work with and produces the finest quality images.
